Ellis Creek Fish Camp is one of the most scenic and relaxed spots to enjoy seafood in Charleston. Nestled on James Island with gorgeous marsh views, this laid-back, dog-friendly spot delivers all the Lowcountry vibes you’d hope for. Whether you’re seated indoors or on the patio, the casual, camp-like setting is ideal for kicking back and savoring fresh seafood. With no reservations required, just order at the window, grab a seat, and let the good times roll.

What should we be drinking?
The drinks here are light, refreshing, and perfect for a hot day.
🍓 Frosé – Sweet and fruity with notes of strawberry—exactly what you want on a warm Charleston afternoon.
Main event: the food. Give us the lowdown—especially what not to miss.
Ellis Creek is all about approachable, well-cooked seafood with a few Southern classics thrown in for good measure.
🌶️ Fried Okra – Crispy, tender, and served with a smoky chipotle aioli that adds just the right touch of heat.
🌮 Blackened Fish Taco – Topped with mango pico and cilantro crema, this taco is bright, fresh, and packed with flavor. Easily my favorite dish here.
🍤 Fried Shrimp Plate – Lightly breaded and perfectly crispy, these shrimp are served with your choice of side. I went with onion rings, and they were crunchy and satisfying.
🦀 Crab Salad Sandwich – A classic crab salad featuring imitation crab (Surimi) and pickles. While it’s good as is, it would be exceptional with blue crab.
🐟 Fried Grouper Sandwich – Sweet and tender grouper paired with a perfectly spicy tartar sauce. Flaky, flavorful, and an easy standout.
How was the service?
As a counter-service spot, Ellis Creek keeps it casual and efficient. The staff are friendly and helpful, happy to offer recommendations if you’re unsure what to try.
