The Hanging Church is an ancient Coptic Christian church with a fascinating history and religious significance. Located in Old Cairo, the Hanging Church was founded as early as the 3rd or 4th century, though it was largely rebuilt by the Pope Abraham in 975-978. Now, it’s the most famous Coptic Christian church in Cairo and is known for its impressive basilican architecture, 110 icons—some of which date back to the 8th century—and incredible stone reliefs on display. It's also the site of several reported Marian apparitions, making it an especially sacred place to many.
