Sugimoto Temple is the oldest temple in Kamakura, dating back to 734. Enter the temple grounds via a moss-covered stairway and two powerful Nio statues at the entrance. The main temple building with its thatched roof exudes a sense of history, housing impressive Kannon statues donated by the first shogun of the Kamakura era. Don't miss the small shrine and Jizo statues in the temple grounds for a peaceful and historical experience in Kamakura.
