Jindaiji Temple is the second oldest temple in Tokyo - yet, very little people know of it! Jindaiji is located in Chofu city, less than an hour from Shibuya and Shinjuku, and is a good option if you are going to visit the Ghibli Museum as you can take a bus to Jindaiji very close to this museum’s entrance.

I highly recommend to explore the area and not just the temple grounds! Jindaiji area is not only attractive for the temple but also for its surroundings, which make us feel as if we were in a little Kyoto. It’s also famous for its soba noodles, and there are several restaurants where you can enjoy soba in a more traditional atmosphere.
