Sensō-ji is the oldest temple in Tokyo, and an absolute must-visit if it's your first time! While most recommend to visit this temple early in the day before the crowds rush in, my personal favourite time is at night, around 7-8pm. Not all stalls will be open still, but nothing beats the magical atmosphere of this incredible temple complex with it's glowing lanterns at night. It is also much less crowded and makes for a much more authentic experience. Sensō-ji has some really beautiful cherry blossoms, especially the weeping cherry tree that you should visit around the End of March 🌸
Heads up that most goods sold on Nakamisedori, the street leading up to the temple, is selling mostly overpriced tourist goods that you can find for a pretty discount at the neighboring streets As well.
If you are visiting in May, make sure to visit Tokyo’s largest, wildest and most popular festival, Sanja Matsuri, which sees the surrounding streets closed to traffic from dawn until late evening.
