Hiking to Mount Fitz Roy from El Chaltén is an unforgettable adventure that combines sweat, tears, blood.. ok, maybe not so much, but surely breathtaking views with a rewarding challenge.

The most popular route is the Laguna de los Tres trail, which begins in a parking lot ar the end of the main city avenue. You can't missed, there is a bunch of signs and everyone knows it.

It takes around 8-10 hours round trip, depending on your pace and how many selfies you are taking. The trail is well-marked and starts with a moderate ascent through a scenic valley, offering glimpses of the Fitz Roy massif as you progress. Midway, you’ll pass picturesque spots like the Rio Blanco campsite, where many hikers take a break before tackling the final ascent. The last kilometer is steep and rocky but leads to the stunning Laguna de los Tres, a turquoise lagoon set against the towering peaks of Fitz Roy. YOU CAN DO IT!!

PRO TIP: Start really early to see wildlife like hares, woodpeckers and maybe a puma. As the morning progresses and the number of tourists on the trail increases, these animals tend to hide. 7am might be a excelente time to begin walking, so you can get do the first sighting of Mount Fitz Roy by its sun rise and take gorgeous pictures.

Come on, if pro tips does not worth sharing this guide in your social media, you don't have a hearth 💔 ??

Thank you so much. Since you already share this guide with the world, I'll give you two more:

1. You will find drinkable water on your way up in at least three different spots. So, don't mind having your bottle full filled (and heavy) at the whole time.

2. At least one hiking pole is mandatory for this trail if you intend to do others trails in El Chaltén. Your knees will suffer at the end of the day without it, trust me.
