Zpráva od Tartan Viking

Glasgow Cathedral, located in Scotland, is an ancient and important monument of Scotland’s storied history. It is the oldest cathedral on mainland Scotland and the oldest building in Glasgow, having been constructed as early as 1136. The cathedral was originally an important site of pilgrimage, and even has a burial of Saint Mungo, the patron saint of the city. Throughout its long history, it has seen attempts at restoration, the prominence of the University of Glasgow, and sadly, also destruction in the form of fires. Despite this, the building has survived largely intact since the Scottish Reformation in the 16th century. This stunning example of medieval architecture is now officially cared for by Historic Environment Scotland and is owned by the Crown. Its congregation is part of the Church of Scotland's Presbytery of Glasgow; it's rich religious heritage lives on to the present day.
