WW2 Shipwreck
A landing barge used in Normandy
Kategorie

Prohlídka památek

Zpráva od Thrainn Kolbeinsson

A lesser known location for sure, this hidden gem is close to Vogar on the Reykjanes peninsula. The landing craft was supposed to go to Normandy for the D-Day invasion and was purchased by an Icelander after the war but got cut lose and ended up there. If you want to get close I'd recommend you visit during low tide, and bring some waterproof boots. It is easy to reach and is on the way to or from the airport - a perfect spot to bring your kids to for an interesting day at the beach!

QUICK NOTES:

  • What it is: A WW2 landing barge that stranded near Vogar, Reykjanes.

  • Best season: Any season.

  • Best time of day: During low tide if you want to get close to the wreck itself.

  • Nice to know: Please don't take anything from the wreck and try to leave everything as it was when you arrived. Thank you!
