Ōhope Beach is a chill spot just 6km from Whakatāne, and it's honestly a great place to kick back. This beach stretches over 11 kilometers of white sand, and if you're into swimming, surfing, or just soaking up the sun, you’ll feel right at home here. The views of Whakaari (White Island) and Motuhoroa (Whale Island) are pretty sweet too. 

If you’re planning to stay a while, there’s a free freedom campsite just behind the beach car park, which is perfect if you're into camping by the coast. It’s not over-the-top or anything, just a nice, relaxed spot to enjoy some beach vibes and nature. No need to overhype it, it’s just a cool beach to enjoy!
