From May until half August, you'll have the opportunity to see puffins in Iceland. If you are traveling the ring road, this is a great place to stop and do a puffin tour.
I had heard many people talk very highly of this tour, so of course I expected it to be great. But it was better than great, it was amazing.
First you get driven to the cliffs on a tractor drawn haycart. Which is an experience in itself. After that you get to the cliffs and have to hike up a sand dune. The puffins will be waiting at the top. It's a beautiful walk around Ingólfshöfði. And the way back is absolutely spectacular too. I can highly recommend it.
Matta and Einar, the owners, really love what they do. You can feel that through all of their stories. Which is always a great thing to see and a plus on any tour.
