Piazza Navona is an iconic public open space in Rome, Italy. Built on the site of the historical Stadium of Domitian which was constructed in the 1st century AD, it now features several significant sculptures and structures such as the Fountain of the Four Rivers by Gian Lorenzo Bernini, topped with the Obelisk of Domitian. Other monuments can also be found in the area such as Sant'Agnese in Agone and the Palazzo Pamphili. In addition to its long history, the Piazza proves to be a popular location for modern entertainment and celebrated events. On every Saturday and Sunday in August, celebrations used to take place in the piazza until 1865, and today a bustling Christmas market is held each year from December until January. As part of the vibrant city of Rome, Piazza Navona offers a truly unforgettable experience.
