The Edith Cavell Meadows Trail one of my favourite intermediate hikes in Jasper National Park. Allow around 3 hours to explore this slowly climbing path as it travels through sub-alpine meadows, all with a view of the stunning Angel Glacier. Look out for ground squirrels and tiny pikas as well.
This trail is best from mid July onwards. Be sure to stay on the trail to avoid damage to the delicate landscape.
It is possible to continue on an unmaintained, occasionally steep path to the East Ridge Summit. The views from here are even more amazing and better still, it's usually pretty quiet (photos 3 and 4).
Please note that this trail has been closed since the July 2024 wildfire. It is unknown whether it will reopen for the summer 2025 season. Check the Parks Canada 'What's Open in Jasper' page for updates.
A Parks Canada parks pass is required to explore Jasper National Park ($22/day for a vehicle of up to 7 people).
