Wilson Arch is a magnificent and humbling natural sandstone arch located in La Sal, Utah. Located off the US Route 191 near Moab, it boasts a span of 91 feet (28 m) and a height of 46 feet (14 m). Named after Joe Wilson, a local pioneer, this impressive structure was formed due to weathering. Over time, joints and folds in the Entrada Sandstone layers saturated with water and ice formed in the fissures. Then, under extreme desert heat, the ice melted and winds cleansed out loose particles, forming fins that eventually collapsed or survived missing portions, like Wilson Arch!
