Headquarter Creek Falls is a tucked-away waterfall off Highway 19, but you’d never know it from the road. It’s hidden from view and tricky to reach since there’s no official trail. But if you’re up for some adventure, the reward is a beautiful canyon draped in moss and ferns, with the waterfall cascading into a quiet, shaded pool.

To get there, head south on Highway 19 and park on the shoulder near the bridge—there’s enough room to pull over safely. The south end of the bridge is the best place to park, but the north side is the easiest spot to hike in from. If you attempt it from the south side, be prepared to wade across the creek.

Wellington boots or waders are necessary, as the best views stand in the creek. Avoid visiting after heavy rain unless you’re up for a full-on wetsuit and snorkel adventure—getting close or finding a good angle will be nearly impossible in high water.

It’s a bit off the beaten path, but for those willing to make the effort, Headquarter Creek Falls is well worth the visit.
