Rocky Lake North is a quiet, off-the-beaten-path spot in Kelsey, Manitoba, Canada. Located near Wanless village and Rocky Lake East, it offers some great nearby places to explore. The area has a relaxed vibe, with a railway stop in Wanless. Known for its crystal-clear waters, excellent fishing, and serene wilderness, it's definitely worth a visit!

Best Things to Do at Rocky Lake

  • Go Fishing: Known for walleye, northern pike, and lake trout, Rocky Lake is a year-round fishing destination.

  • Explore Rocky Lake Hiking Trails: The Lakeside / Lakeshore trails are some favorite of ours, offering stunning views of the morning mist over the lake. However, we were disheartened to see some graffiti and litter on the trail. Always remember to pack in what you pack out.

  • Paddle or Boat around the Lake: Kayaking, canoeing, and motorboating are all great ways to explore the calm waters.

Where to Stay at Rocky Lake

  • Rocky Lake Resort: Cozy cabins, boat rentals, and a general store. Ideal for families, fishing trips, or a romantic getaway. Note: A 3-night minimum stay is required.

  • Camping at Clearwater Lake Provincial Park: About 40 minutes drive away, Clearwater Lake Provincial Park offers Campers Cove and Pioneer Bay campgrounds.

  • Stay in The Pas: A 35-minute drive from Rocky Lake North, the town of The Pas offers several hotels, including the Andersen Inn and Suites where we stayed at, which provides clean rooms, free breakfast, and an indoor pool.

Where to Eat at Rocky Lake

  • Rocky Lake Resort Restaurant: Enjoy fresh fish, and comfort food.

  • Dining in The Pas: The town of The Pas offers several fast food and restaurant options. We enjoyed dining at Good Thymes Restaurant & Bar, so we recommend checking it out!

What to Know Before Visiting Rocky Lake

  • Bring Supplies: There are limited services, so make sure you have everything you need, including food, gas, and gear.

  • Watch for Wildlife: Bears, moose, and other wildlife are common, so store food properly and stay alert.

Best Time to Visit: Summer/Fall (June–September) for fishing, boating, and hiking. Be prepared for plenty of mosquitoes from mid-June to mid-August though!
