Gruyères Castle is a majestic medieval castle located in the heart of the picturesque town of Gruyères, Fribourg, Switzerland. It is believed to have been built between 1270 and 1282, and is now a nationally recognized Swiss heritage site of great importance. In addition to its historic significance, Gruyères Castle also houses an impressive variety of artwork as well as several capes of the Order of the Golden Fleece - this ancient order was captured by Swiss troops during the Battle of Morat against Charles the Bold in 1476. Visitors can explore the French garden, marvel at the incredible architecture and view compelling artworks produced by 19th-century artists Jean-Baptiste-Camille Corot and Barthélemy Menn, plus much more. With something special for everyone, Gruyères Castle is sure to enchant both guests and historians alike!
