Best Friends Animal Sanctuary, located in Kanab, Utah, is the largest no-kill animal sanctuary in the United States. Here are a few fun facts:

1. Mission: Operated by Best Friends Animal Society, the sanctuary is dedicated to ending the killing of pets in shelters across the U.S. by promoting no-kill practices.

2. Location: The sanctuary is nestled in the stunning red rock canyons of Angel Canyon, near Kanab, Utah.

3. Size: It spans approximately 3,700 acres, with an additional 30,000 acres of leased federal land.

4. Animals: It provides a safe haven for around 1,600 animals at any given time, including dogs, cats, birds, horses, pigs, rabbits, and other species.

5. Programs: The sanctuary focuses on rehabilitation, medical care, adoption, and educational programs. They also offer tours and volunteer opportunities.

6. History: Founded in 1984, the organization has been at the forefront of the no-kill movement, advocating for humane treatment and adoption of pets.

7. Adoption and Visits: Visitors can adopt animals directly or enjoy guided tours, hiking, and volunteering experiences on-site.

8. Angel’s Rest: A serene cemetery on the sanctuary’s grounds honors beloved pets with wind chimes and tributes.

Last time we were there they had a ton of kittens we got to play with and feed on our visit.
