The beautiful and mysterious Poinciana Tree of the George Brown Darwin Botanic Gardens is an iconic sight in the Northern Territory's capital. Growing deep in its history, it could very well be the spirit of a young woman betrothed to a sailor that has been transformed into a banyan tree by her grief. Or perhaps she is the Poonchearni lady - an Asian ghost that haunts the trees along the cliffs at East Point, seeking revenge upon men who hurt her. Whatever version you believe, the Poinciana tree with its brilliant red blossoms is sure to leave one enchanted with its eerie allure.
