Ventry Bay, located on the Dingle Peninsula in Ireland, is a picturesque and sheltered inlet that is popular among swimmers, kayakers, and anglers. It is also known as a prime spot for observing basking sharks, the second-largest fish in the world after the whale shark. Basking sharks are harmless filter feeders that can grow up to 10 meters long and weigh up to 5 tons. They typically visit Ventry Bay from May to August each year, attracted by the abundance of plankton and small fish in the bay's waters. Visitors to the area can take a boat tour to see these gentle giants up close, or they can observe them from the shore using binoculars. While basking sharks are the star attraction of Ventry Bay, the area is also home to a variety of other marine life, including dolphins, seals, and a variety of seabirds. Overall, Ventry Bay is a unique and exciting destination for nature lovers visiting the Dingle Peninsula.
