What you’ll do

In 2022 summer I decided to head out to the Alps for a few days and not return home. I decided I wanna trek every single day and sleep in mountain huts every single night. So I picked a 4 days hut to hut hike called Tour des Muverans, a multiday hike (loop hike) that takes you around the Grand Muverans peak, features 6 mountain passes and goes through Valais and Vaud kanton. The hike is lesser known, so you can truly enjoy the solitude and it truly offers you breathtakingly beautiful views.

The entire distance of the hike is 52 km with elevation gain of 4380 meters. Descent : 4380 meter.

It takes over 20 hours to complete the entire tour.

Highest point of the trail is 2578 meter.

Best time to do the hike is June - September.

The hike is very well marked , you will be passing 6 mountains passes, 3 lakes and you can stop at different huts for refreshments.

The trek is not difficult but can be in bad weather condition.

Huts needs to be booked beforehand especially if you decide to trek on the weekend.

Dogs has to be on leash all time since many area you hike is conservation area.

6-8h

DAY 1: Take the bus or drive the car from Sion to Derborance. There is a parking lot to leave the car behind while you are out but always check parking fees.

Once you are ready to start your trek, (made sure you have enough water since the only water source on the way is Gite de l'alpage de Dorbon hut. )

Follow the number 82 sign towards Cabana du Ramber hut where you will be spending your first night.

The hike is 11 km long with 1401 meters of elevation gain and it takes 5hours 15 minutes to complete.

You will be crossing the first pass called Col de la Forcla Pass where you can find an artificial lake called Lac de la Forcle. The trail will continue a bit downhill then you will have a last climb to reach Rambert hut.

Once you are there make sure you rest up for the following day.

Sunset and sunrise are mandatory at this place! Both beautiful.

TIP: after dinner head outside, you may be lucky to spot ibexes grazing around the hut. When I went there there wax around 20 of them.
