Look, sometimes I find myself checking out the most random attractions just to see what they’re about, you never know when something’s gonna be a hit or a miss, right? I’ll be straight with you, the Koutu Boulders aren’t mind-blowing, but if you’re in the area, they’re definitely worth a quick detour to admire some super quirky rock formations and stretch your legs along a long drive.

These boulders are these massive, naturally-formed, spherical stones that kind of look like giant marbles scattered along the beach. From the car park, it’s a short and easy 5-minute walk to see them up close. If you can time your visit for low tide, it’s even better, you can stroll along the shoreline and really soak in their odd yet fascinating vibe.

It’s not the kind of spot you’d plan your whole day around, but for a quick and quirky sightseeing experience, the Koutu Boulders are pretty cool. Sometimes it’s the little random stops like this that make road trips extra fun!
