Cape Cross is a headland located in the Skeleton Coast of Namibia that offers stunning views of the South Atlantic Ocean. This prominent geographical landmark is most famous for its role in 16th century Portuguese exploration when Diogo Cão, a navigator and explorer who was sent on a mission to search for a sea route to India and the Spice Islands, erected two padrões (stone crosses) at what is now Cape Cross. This remarkable place today serves as an important seal reserve that hosts one of the largest colonies of Cape fur seals in the world. Just be prepared, the smell is not from this world! If you are sensitive to smells, this is definitely not the place for you.
