Dappat se Gat is a hidden gem located along the stunning Clarence Drive in the Overstrand region of South Africa. This picturesque spot features a series of small caves nestled between the Atlantic Ocean and the Kogelberg mountains. The name "Dappat se Gat" translates to "Dappat's Hole" and has an interesting backstory. Back in the farming days, a livestock thief named Dappat would hide stolen animals in these caves, taking advantage of the high tide that would wash away any tracks. He would then slaughter the animals and sell their meat. Although it can be a bit tricky to find, the adventure to discover Dappat se Gat is well worth it for the breathtaking coastal views alone. Just be aware that the swimming conditions can be dangerous due to strong rip currents.
