My TIP

On these steps are often street performers, especially musicians. At the top of the stairs there is an observation deck, where you can enjoy a very nice view of Prague - e.g. the adjacent Fürstenberg Garden.

Explore Old Castle Steps

Staré zámecké schody, also known as the Old Castle Steps, are a historic set of stairs in Prague, Czech Republic, connecting the district of Malá Strana with the eastern part of Prague Castle. Dating back to the 17th century, these steps were renovated in 1835-1837 and have since become a popular spot for tourists heading to Prague Castle from the Malostranská metro station.

With 121 steps and a length of about 230 meters, these stairs offer a picturesque route with a scenic view of Prague from the top.

Plus, they're famous for inspiring the beloved song "Po Starých zámeckých schodech" by Karel Hašler!

along the way there are beautiful views and photogenic places of Prague.

Interesting facts

The Old Castle Stairs are younger than the New Castle Stairs :-D
