Sigöldugljúfur is one of the best off-the-beaten path locations in Iceland, with its lush green walls of waterfalls spilling down the canyon's sides. To get here, however, it requires a 4x4. Fortunately, if you are already planning a visit to Landmannalaugar, then this can easily be added into your itinerary. Once you pass the power station, drive about 3 km and park at the gravel parking lot. From here, cross the road and follow the road to the viewpoint of the canyon. It is an easy 1km walk that will open up views of the beautiful oasis. Spend 1 hour exploring the area through walking along the rim or visiting other nearby waterfalls like Sigoldufoss. Overall, this is an incredible place to marvel at the beauty of the Icelandic countryside.
