Triple Peak is one of our most memorable backpacking trips we’ve done thus far. We never really had the chance to explore Vancouver Island until recently, and to say we were blown away with the hiking is an understatement. We completed this overnight trip last Summer, and it was short but not easy. A lot of the hike consisted of climbing up parts of rock, beside small waterfalls and route finding. Overall, it was 110% worth the effort!!
We visited Triple Peak is early September, and we had the whole lake to ourselves. There was a few people we passed on the trail, but we were the only ones camping at the lake. There is a decent amount of flat rock spaces to pitch a tent, so we recommend camping there if you want to catch the sunrise or sunset as it’s incredible when the light hits the peak. This hike is also doable as a day hike, considering the short distance.
Distance: 5.6 KM (3.5 Miles) roundtrip
Elevation Gain: 813m (2667 ft)
Difficulty: Hard (experienced hikers recommended)
This hike is for experienced hikers only. There is route finding experience needed, and parts of the hike you will need to climb up/down very steep and slippery sections as hike is beside a small waterfall
Important:
This is a 3 season hike, do not attempt in late Fall/Winter months
Trailhead is 10km down a logging road, so an SUV or 4x4 vehicle is needed
You may need to park 2KM from the trailhead as the road narrows from overgrowth bush
