The Basílica i Temple Expiatori de la Sagrada Família, otherwise known as the Sagrada Familia, is an incredible architectural and engineering marvel in Barcelona, Spain. It is one of the largest unfinished Catholic churches in the world, designed by Catalan architect Antoni Gaudí and proclaimed a Minor basilica by Pope Benedict XVI in 2010. Construction started in 1882, and it has advanced slowly due to relying solely on private donations. Over the years advancements in technologies such as computer-aided design have helped speed up the process slightly, however, it is still not expected to be completed until 2040. Many renowned art critics consider the Sagrada Familia to be unprecedented in architectural history, making it a truly awe-inspiring sight!
