bericht van Irene Pila

Via Margutta is a prime location in the center of Rome, Italy and near Piazza del Popolo. It was once home to modest craftsmen, workshops and stables, but has since become known for its fashionable restaurants and many art galleries. It was also the setting of the 1953 film Roman Holiday, which helped it rise in popularity. Today, it is a street with a unique garden atmosphere surrounded by trees and vineyards, and is home to many artists, painters, sculptors, and antiquarians. Via Margutta annually hosts the 'Cento Pittori via Margutta', a traditional festival of the arts that began in 1953- one which provides budding artists an opportunity to showcase their work. Visiting Via Margutta is a great way to experience Rome’s artistic culture – and get inspired!
