The Taupo Tree is a relative new comer to the New Zealand landscape photography scene and it is probably one of the most sought after locations due to it being a guarded secret.
I'm more of a share it with those who really want to see it kind of person, which is why I've given the location in my photospots map. There is a foot access way between 7 & 8 Mac Road. You can also access the lake foreshore through the old Primary School at 403 Volcanic Highway (you'll see a large field to cross). The trees will be in the distance to your left.
This spot works best at sunset with the golden light hitting the tree and it's usually a lot calmer at this time for the chance of a reflection. Use your wide angle lens for this spot.
