The Norwegian House in Stykkisholmur is a charming regional museum in West Iceland. Built in 1832, it was the first two-storey wood-frame residence in Iceland, with wood imported from Norway. The house offers a glimpse into the past with open storage on the top floor and rotating exhibitions on the lower level. You can explore the history of the area and shop for local handicrafts and products.

QUICK NOTES:

  • What it is: A museum giving insight into life in Iceland in the 1900s.

  • Best season: Any but winter (they close during the winter months and usually start opening up around March).

  • Opening hours: Generally from 1pm - 4pm from Tuesdays to Saturdays (but check website in case).
