Buttle Lake is a deep, moody lake that stretches 23km from Highway 28 into the rugged heart of Strathcona Provincial Park.
Westmin Road borders the eastern side of the lake, providing regular glimpses of the (sometimes turbulent) water. The lake is backdropped by tall forested mountains.
Viewpoints and trailheads are scattered along the road (some noted on this map).
My favorite part of the drive is at the southern end of Buttle Lake, where you can enjoy 360-degree views of the surrounding mountains. The panoramas are truly breathtaking, especially when the lake is calm and mirrors the stunning scenery.
