Gaia Spa at Boringdon Hall, near Plymouth

This for me is the absolute best spa in Devon and it's a wonderful hotel to stay in as well. Gaia Spa is state of the art and cost $5 million to create! Hotel guests have complimentary use of the spa, and if you're not staying, then you have access to the whole spa when booking a treatment of 45 minutes or longer, or by booking a spa day package. There is also a gym and beauty salon!

Favourite features: indoor swimming pool, hydrotherapy pool, finnish sauna, crystal salt steam room, laconium, herbal sauna and heated poolside beds to name a few!

Harbour Beach Club and Spa, Salcombe

The spa at Harbour Beach Club is definitely one of the most stylish spa's in the list, with it's art deco influence and commanding position on South Sands beach a short walk from Salcombe. This is a great choice to combine with a visit to this beautiful seaside town, where you can combine it with a delicious dining experience at the hotel restaurant, overlooking the sea.

Favourite features: indoor pool with floor to ceiling windows, outdoor terrace with sunloungers to take in the view, a hydrotherapy pool, gym and some amazing treatments (many of which inspired by the marine environment!)

Gara Rock Hotel, East Portlemouth

For me, Gara Rock is the most beautiful hotel on the coast and its location completes the perfect package of wellness with beautiful ocean views and the South West coast path right on it's doorstep. The spa is equally as stylish as the hotel (think Soho Farmhouse vibes) but it is on the smaller side! Nevertheless, having been lucky enough to stay at this hotel and enjoy relaxing here, I completely recommend. You don't have to be hotel resident though and spa day packages start at £130pp including a 30 minute treatment and lunch with a glass of champagne.

Favourite features: Blue mosaic pool, jacuzzi, sauna and steam room. The Elemis treatment list includes massages, facials and manicures.

Bovey Castle Hotel and Spa, Dartmoor

The stately Bovey Castle Hotel on Dartmoor National Park is impressive in its grandeur and setting so even just visiting feels like a treatment. The spa itself is probably a little dated compared to the others in the list, BUT it is the only spa on this list that you can access for a small fee (£35pp) without having to book a treatment so it's especially great for locals looking for some relaxation.

Favourite features: indoor heated pool and whirlpool, terrace with sunloungers overlooking the grounds, sauna, gym and ESPA treatments offering facials, massages, maternity and waxing.

Cary Arms & Spa, Torquay

This small spa packs a punch with its features and you're bound to enjoy your experience here. The spa itself is sea-facing and has floor to ceiling windows so you can be sure to enjoy those ocean views. In terms of access, anyone can visit when you have a treatment booked. Without a booked treatment, access if only available to residents for a small charge.

Favourite features: Waterfall hydrotherapy pool, steam rooms, sauna and a gym. The treatment rooms offer marine based facials, massages and body treatments.

Source Spa, Saunton Sands Hotel

The Source Spa at Saunton Sands Hotel is an impressive and modern wellness retreat, spanning three floors with coastal views overlooking the famous Saunton Sands beach. There are a range of membership and spa day options, not always needing to book a treatment so it's definitely worth a look to see what fits you best of you're not a resident of the hotel.

Favourite features: Heated indoor and outdoor pools, as well as a thermal suite and relaxation rooms. There many wonderful treatments on offer, but this spa has a focus on yoga and the gym facilities as well to fulfill the complete wellness experience.
