Silica Rapids is a spectacular walking trail located in Whakapapa Village area of Tongariro National Park in Central North Island. It provides an excellent opportunity to explore a range of vegetation types and see the beautiful creamy-white Silica Rapid terraces. The 7 km loop takes around 2 hr 30 min, with an easy walking track suitable for most fitness levels. As you make your way through the beech forest, you can see the gold-toned bed of the bubbling stream.
