Bo-Kaap, nestled at the foot of Signal Hill in Cape Town, is a vibrant and historically rich neighbourhood bursting with colourful houses and cultural diversity. Originally known as the Malay Quarter, Bo-Kaap's roots date back to the 1760s when it was home to Cape Malays brought from various regions. The iconic multi-coloured houses, a mix of Cape Dutch and Georgian architecture, stand as a symbol of freedom and heritage for the predominantly Muslim community that has called Bo-Kaap home for generations. From exploring Islamic shrines and mosques to indulging in delicious Cape Malay cuisine and joining cooking tours, there's no shortage of experiences to immerse yourself in the unique charm of Bo-Kaap.
