Kathleen Lake, located in Yukon, Canada, is a breathtakingly beautiful and tranquil lake situated within Kluane National Park and Reserve. It is especially noteworthy for its exceptionally clear waters and the presence of kokanee salmon, which are a landlocked population of sockeye living solely in freshwater bodies. This lake is also home to a variety of outdoor recreational opportunities, such as day-use areas, boat launches, campgrounds, and hiking trails. The most popular trail is the 3.1 mile ascent to King's Throne, an awe-inspiring natural amphitheater overlooking the lake with stunning 360-degree vistas. Visitors of Kathleen Lake come for the gorgeous views and leave feeling reborn.
Eryn's Tips:
This lake is amazing to visit in both the winter and the summer months! In the winter you can walk out onto the lake or take a skidoo out to explore. In the summer you can kayak or canoe, camp at the campground, or walk along the walking path along the right side of the lake!
As Kluane National Park is a Canadian National Park, you can find the classic red national park chairs here to the right side at the end of the boardwalk :)
The campground is located away from the lake and it does take a few minutes to make it down to the lake from camp.
There is a meeting area that is covered and has a wood stove and picnic tables. You can use this unless there is some sort of event going on and it's a great place to eat lunch and get inside to relax.
