New Zealand Alpine Lavender® is situated in the stunning Mackenzie high country on the way to Mount Cook and takes advantage of the natural environment to cultivate some of the world's most potent lavender.

This certified organic farm is one of the largest in the Southern Hemisphere and you can take in the beautiful view whilst stopping off at the store to buy quality lavender products such as oils, soaps, icecream and aromatherapy.

The lavender farm is open from 15 November to April during the Spring and Summer months in New Zealand. I visited in December when I took this drone image and the lavender looked beautiful! For drone photography I would recommend visiting in the sunrise and sunset golden hours. You can not access the lavender farm outside of their opening hours of 10am to 4pm so drone is the only option for golden hour photography. Definitely visit during the day (straight after opening) for a chance to photograph the lavender close up on your mid range and zoom lens.
