Hike
Hike
2-3h
This circular trail, in my opinion, is a true hidden gem of Madeira’s southern coast of Madeira.
Why?
Because this relatively short hike includes:
• The historic Ponte de Roma bridge
• A stunning suspension bridge,
• At least two waterfalls you can explore up close.
Throughout the trail, you’ll also spot several waterfalls from a distance.
However, I wouldn’t call the entire route scenic. It’s more about the highlights that make it stand out. And the fact that it’s a circular route means you won’t need any additional transfer to complete it.
I’ve attached my GPS Track for this route. You can park your car at the starting point where I began the hike and follow my path.
The two beautiful waterfalls are located near the suspension bridge. To find them:
1. Cross the bridge.
2. Turn left and walk along the levada until it ends.
3. Then, cross the stream and continue for another 30-50 meters.
You’ll see everything around the corner! 😉
