Caldeira Velha Environmental Interpretation Centre, located on São Miguel Island in the Azores, is a remarkable destination for nature enthusiasts. The center highlights the island’s volcanic origins, with an emphasis on the formation of the Fogo volcano. Here, visitors can explore exhibitions about the region’s biodiversity, geological history, and geothermal resources, offering a deep insight into the unique natural heritage of the Azores.
Surrounded by lush vegetation, the center also features four thermal pools, making it an ideal spot for relaxation. The naturally heated waters are rich in minerals like calcium, magnesium, and sulfur, known for their therapeutic effects, which help with muscle relaxation, circulation, and overall well-being. However, to ensure safety, visitors should avoid drinking the water, refrain from swimming with open eyes, and follow any advised precautions, especially if pregnant or with health conditions.
