Pallastunturi fells is truly a magical place. Made up of seven fells, with Taivaskero as its highest peak (809 metres), these fells offers a one-of-a-kind experience in nature. This place was partly established as a national park in 1938, and is also one of the 27 National landscapes of Finland. In 1952, the second Olympic flame of the Summer Olympics was lit atop Taivaskero fell where is still its sign on the top.
Park your car to the Pallastunturi Hotel (Adress: Pallastunturintie 557, 99330 Pallastunturi, Muonio) and take the hike up to the highest peak, Taivaskero. The Taivaskero Trail is 8,3km long.
NOTE: In winter Pallas also has a skiing center!
AND in winter, you can't go everywhere on the fells, because avalanches also happen on these fells. You should know where you can go in winter and where you can't.
