Pyhä-Nattanen Fell is a great spot for anyone seeking an enchanting and remote location with breathtaking views.
At the top of Pyhä-Nattanen (508 meters), you’ll find large remnants of granite weathering called tors. Pyhä-Nattanen was once a sacred place for the Sámi people due to these formations. Additionally, it served as a fire observation point and during World War II, as a German observation post—evidenced by remnants still present! At the summit of Pyhä-Nattanen, there’s also a small day shelter that used to serve as a fire watcher’s cabin. Please do not harm these remnants! ❤️
The Pyhä-Nattanen Trail in Sompion Luonnonpuisto (Sompio Nature Park) offers a captivating hiking experience.
The trail is 2 km long to the summit of Pyhä-Nattanen from the main parking lot.
NOTE: There are two starting points for the route. You can also take a longer route to the summit (4 km) from another parking lot or complete a circular route with a total length of 7 km.
The route is marked with green poles and wooden cross signs.
Remember to stay on the marked trails within the strict nature reserve. Enjoy the wilderness and the breathtaking views! 🏞️🥾
