This bridge stretches over the beautiful Gorner Gorge near Zermatt.

Length: 100m
Height: 90m
When to visit: mid June to mid October

You can reach the bridge quite easily, by riding a gondola up to the Furi station, then a 20 min walk through the forest. There is a nice picnic area and playground just a couple minutes past the bridge.

This is a nice add-on after visiting the Matterhorn Glacier Paradise viewpoint above or doing the Matterhorn Glacier Trail.

More hiking options

  1. From the bridge, you can continue hiking up river to the Glacier Garden, a lovely river valley filled with larch trees, shaped by the Gorner Glacier that has retreated in the mountains high above. Return the way you came.

  2. Instead of riding the gondola back to Zermatt, walk down to Zermatt and visiting the Gorner Gorge on your way down.

  3. You can visit the bridge after hiking down from Riffelberg on the Glacier Garden trail.

Budget Option

You can visit the bridge for free by skipping the gondola and hiking up from Zermatt instead. On the way back, loop back down through Gorner Gorge.

Trail: moderate • 2h30 • 7.4km / 4.5 mi • 340m up & down
