If you are traveling from Zurich to Interlaken (or vice versa), the fastest connection travels through Bern, about 2 hours travel time. When checking connections on SBB.ch, you will also see connections through Lucerne, which is a prettier route but takes 45 mins longer.

If you are traveling through Bern, we suggest choosing the direct train, which runs a few times a day. Check current schedule on SBB.ch.

Otherwise, you will need to change trains once in Bern or twice, first in Spiez and then in Bern. These transfers can be stressful especially if you have heavy/bulky luggage or a few children to manage.

The direct train usually has a "Family Wagon" designated by a teddy bear icon. This car has a little play area for kids and tolerates playful noise, unlike the regular train cars. If you click on the train, you can see the configuration showing where you should stand on the platform to board the family wagon.
