Delft Island, also known as Neduntheevu, is a small oval-shaped island in the Palk Strait of northern Sri Lanka. With a flat terrain surrounded by shallow waters and coral beaches, it is home to a small Tamil population living in quiet compounds near the coast. The island's vegetation consists of palmyra palms, dry shrubs, and grasses growing on porous coralline soil. Feral ponies roam the island, descendants of those left behind during the Dutch period. In addition to its natural beauty, Delft Island boasts archaeological ruins, including a Hindu temple built in the Chola style and a Dutch colonial fort.
