Message from João Petersen

The Peak Wilderness Sanctuary, also known as the Sripada Peak Wilderness Sanctuary, is a natural reserve in Sri Lanka that covers around 224 square kilometers of tropical rainforest surrounding the famous Adam's Peak. Established in 1940, this sanctuary boasts unique geographical features with mountains reaching heights from 1000 to 7360 feet above sea level. It is home to diverse flora and fauna, including rare species like the Adenomus kandianus toad. Tourists can explore this pristine forest area with permission from the Sri Lanka Wildlife Conservation Department, but be cautious during the rainy season due to sudden downpours and floods.
