Fort George, located near Ardersier in Inverness, is an impressive fortress that was built after the Battle of Culloden to protect King George II's army. It took a whopping 22 years to finish, but it's been standing strong for almost 250 years now.

You can wander around the massive ramparts, check out the Highlanders Museum, and even visit a dog cemetery where regimental mascots and officers' dogs are laid to rest. Plus, keep an eye out for dolphins playing off the coast while you explore this historic gem!
