Located just outside of Glasgow and before you reach Loch Lomond, Finnich Glen is a beautiful glen known for its mysterious rock formations and blood-red water. This site is one of legend, featuring in shows like Outlander, as well as being the backdrop to many folk tales. Famed for the sandstone red river that winds through this narrow gorge, it’s the perfect place to embrace the spirit of adventure and create unforgettable memories.

Here are some tips to save if you are planning a visit:

  • There is a small parking area close by the path for around 6-8 cars, but bear in mind this can be busier in peak times and other options are a bit further away

  • There are two sides to the gorge - both are worth exploring and can be accessed on either side of the bridge on the main road (A809)

  • The ground in this area is notoriously muddy and slippy so wear the right footwear and be careful when descending down the steps (which can be found on the side of the gorge which is furthest away from where you park)
