Akraneskirkja is a historic church located in Akranes, Iceland. Consecrated in August 1896, it has been a significant landmark in the community for over a century. The church features an altarpiece dating back to 1870, painted by Sigurður Guðmundsson. Originally, the church had cast iron windows, which were replaced with wooden ones between 1902 and 1908. The pipe organ was updated in 1988, and a new church steeple was installed in 2002. Akraneskirkja is known for its distinctive architecture and well-preserved interior, making it a point of interest for visitors to the region.
