Skógafoss is one of Iceland’s most iconic waterfalls — and when you see it, you’ll understand why. 💧 This beast is 60 metres tall (about 200 feet!) and the sheer power of the water crashing down is unreal. You can walk right up to the base of the falls, but be prepared to get soaked from the mist — it’s part of the experience! 🌈
On sunny days, there’s often a rainbow (or even a double rainbow) cutting through the mist, which makes it so dreamy for photos. And if you’re up for a bit of a climb, there’s a staircase to the top with views over the waterfall and the Skógar valley.
Pro tip: If you keep walking past the top of the falls, you’ll find a beautiful trail with tons of smaller waterfalls along the way. It’s part of the Fimmvörðuháls hike, which is bucket list level if you’re up for a long trek.
