The Statue of Hachikō in Tokyo, Japan is a beloved symbol of loyalty and devotion. Installed outside of Shibuya Station, the bronze sculpture commemorates the loyal Akita dog that would wait for nine years at the station for his owner’s return. The statue, sculpted by Takeshi Andō, was first erected in 1948 to honor Hachikō’s unwavering dedication to his long-lost master. The meeting spot has since become a popular attraction among both locals and tourists alike, as it is a physical reminder of Hachikō’s inspiring story.
