Koh Kood (or Koh Kut), is a great island for beach lovers, jungles and waterfalls. Plus the roads are almost deserted, making it an ideal island for exploring by scooter. There's no car on the island. So, along with the stunning scenery and crystal clear water, expect it to be quiet, even during High Season. It's appearance is that of a smaller, less developed Koh Chang. Koh Kood is far too large for you to be able to walk from beach to beach easily. It's around 25 Kms long and 12 Kms wide, making it the fifth largest island in Thailand. Many resorts are located down dirt tracks, well off the main road, in the middle of nowhere. So if you leave your resort and walk as far as the road, you'll find there are very few shops, bars or restaurants anywhere. You won't find any 7-eleven, beer bars, or other trappings of mass tourism here. Here are my favorite photo spots:
The beaches of course: secret sunset beach (see above), with zero tourist, palm trees and the view on the small island.
Ai Luam Beach (near Hideout resort) full of sun beds, palm trees and swings.
Bang Bao beach with its very long wooden pier, bars and sunset views.
The wooden bridge at the left end of Bang Bao beach is very photogenic especially at high tide when boats can pass under.
Kong Chao beach with its double palm trees lying above the beach.
Ao Tapao and Haad Noi beach. For accomodations, I recommend Hideout Resort Koh Kood, very modern and nice, right on the beach, and Ala Koh Kood Resort. And for food and drinks, I recommend The deck bar for a sunset drink, view point cafe, relax house, and the pink kangaroo.
